After playing Stone Ridge GC this morning I decided to drive by Tanglewood GC in Perrysburg, OH on the home to check it out for future play. Well its now a "Horse Farm" and was told it closed in March 2021 because of costs to keep it going. We at least its got a lot of good grass to keep those horses happy.

$21 (cart included), played on Wednesday, September 2009 at 4pm

I played here late in the day Wednesday, 9-16-09, while passing through the Toledo area. Chose this course due to proximity to my hotel. Started at 4:00 PM and was done by 6:15. The course was pretty empty, despite low price ($25 for 18 holes with cart).

The course is kinda downscale, but is unpretentious, and a fair test. Longest tees are only 5822, rating/slope of 67.2/110. The design was very simple: only a few doglegs, and lots of parallel holes, and shaggy fairways, and essentially no rough. BUT, the fairways are tight and lined with mature trees, and the greens are tiny (I guess a 3-putt is possible, but you'd have to work at it), and most are elevated a foot or two above the adjacent terrain. If there's a bunker on the course, I didn't see it. The local terrain is very flat, and so is the course: water comes into play on only two holes. Distance markers are here, but can be hard to find. I had a hard time locating my ball on a number of occasions, as the fairway grass was a bit shaggy, and there are lotsa leaves lying about.

On the more positive side, there were a number of high-school age kids playing, which is great for the future of the game. Staff I met was very friendly and welcoming. This seems like a nice course for beginners, not so much for low handicappers.

Pro shop is austere, with very little merchandise, but there is a bar and restaurant attached, which seem to be popular.
